Who are we?
PIE3 is the only nonprofit organization supporting K-12 Robotics in the Carroll County Area, mainly through FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). This all volunteer organization wants every student in Carroll County to be able to join a team on which "All Students can go on to star in College and the Pros"! FIRST Robotics Teams provide the benefits of a true team experience. There are three programs available for students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12.
Teams are not focused just on building and competing robots, and these are definitely not "Battle Bots". Outreach to the community and increasing access to STEM through fun activities and new experiences are just as important for team members. FIRST emphasizes "Gracious Professionalism" for all participants. Winning is great, but helping to build strong communities and exhibiting good sportsmanship is more of a focus. Through formal presentations, judging interviews and public demonstrations, all students gain confidence and learn communication skills. Teams contribute to fundraising and recognize the importance of partners who support them and can apply for internships and scholarships in high school and college. |
